about

Ken Kesey was the author of 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and most importantly, was the leader of The Merry Pranksters, proselytisers for the benefits of LSD in the USA in the early 1960's. He died not so long ago and I wrote this to mark his influence on my life.

lyrics

KESEY HE’S GONE HOME TO THE FARM

Somewhere…there’s thunder and a storm
Somewhere…A farmer seeks his corn
Somewhere…A baby’s being born

AND KESEY, HE’S GONE HOME, TO THE FARM.

Somewhere a rainbow turns to rust
Somewhere a hog dies in the dust
Somewhere an Angel screams a curse

AND KESEY HE’S GONE HOME, TO THE FARM.

Somewhere…a Redwood sheds its leaves
Somewhere…An innocent believes
somehow there can be honour among thieves

AND KESEY HE’S GONE HOME, TO THE FARM.

Somewhere…The sun dies in the west
Somewhere…an old man fails the test
Somewhere…A cuckoo flies its nest

AND KESEY HE’S GONE HOME, TO THE FARM.

I wish I was on that fabled track
With Alan Neil and Bill and Ken and Jack
We’d all be bound for glory there’d be no turning back

AND KESEY HE”S COMES HOME, TO THE FARM.
